Dreams with Mikaela
What’s on your mind right now?
Miink’s “Who Are You?” (Spotify it!).
Who’s visual expression makes you feel overwhelmed?
I’m obsessed with Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. First Episode, 13 minutes in, you get to see visuals of parallel universes – that gives me goosebumps!
What do you dream about?
Falling in love.
What’s your relationship with time like?
I believe in a multiverse and have a theory that we travel between parallell universes subconsciously.
I imagine that this happens when sleeping or daydreaming, and that it takes less than one second to commute to a (slightly) different version of me – far, far away.
I don’t want time to end, and worry about this a lot, trying to figure out possible explanations of eternal life and endless worlds.
What’s your preferred space?
By the ocean, a hot summer day in the Swedish Archipelago. Magic.
Who would you love to work with?
I believe that you don’t have to search on the other side of the globe to find brilliant minds. I love to work with individuals living right here in Stockholm. Especially the younger generation, as they are the future.
Do you feel a sense of belonging in your field as a creative?
I do. But this haven’t always been a given fact for me. When growing up I didn’t think that I had a creative mind and thought I was going to spend my life working 9 to 5 or doing something similar to what my parents do. So, becoming a stylist isn’t something I’ve always dreamt about. Now I can’t imagine doing anything else.
What makes you excited about work?
Working with women.
Name a defining moment in your life.
When I decided to study fashion. Dad <3 helped me apply for a program he found on Södertörn University, only hours beofre the application closed.
On my first day I met a new friend, Emilia, who gave me a push in the right direction, telling me about a stylist course that resulted in my first job as a stylist assistant. A few years later that led to an interview at STYLEBY Magazine and I started working for Columbine Smille.
What’s the biggest risk of your life?
I guess the only thing I risk is my relationships as I give work related things too much space in my mind. Sometimes I get too caught up in work that I forget to check on the ones I love. It breaks my heart thinking about all the times I’ve been absent on the phone when talking to someone that means the world to me. Like my mom.
